Facelift generation map

India's first sub-compact SUV (Tata's term), built on the ALFA-ARC platform shared with Altroz at Ranjangaon, Pune (FIAL). One ICE generation so far, with a January 2026 facelift that borrowed Punch.ev styling and added a 1.2 turbo. India's best-selling passenger car in CY2024 (~202,030 units).     As of this catalog pass (Aug 2026), SIAM voluntary-recall search for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (2021–2026) returned no Punch rows, and Tata has not published an ICE Punch defect/remedy campaign. A 2026 rear-brake caliper action reported for Punch.ev facelift units is EV-only and was not found on SIAM — it belongs on the Punch EV page, not here. Facelift is too new for a used-buying issue list.

    The 5-speed AMT is the main check item. 'Isn't common for the AMT to go wrong, ' but inspect take-off from rest for hesitation and whether shifts feel very clunky. A launch review also flags the typical AMT head-nod and jerky 1st–2nd behaviour in stop-go traffic as characteristic of this robotised gearbox, not a published recall.

GNCAP noted no ESC, no side/curtain airbags, and a rear-centre lap belt that limited the child score. Dual airbags were the launch standard; the 2026 facelift made 6 airbags and ESC standard and later scored 5/5 at Bharat NCAP.

Punch flex-fuel (E85)End-2026 / early 2027

Punch flex-fuel prototype shown at Bharat Mobility / Auto Expo 2025 (petrol, CNG, EV and flex-fuel on the same nameplate). Same 1.2 NA petrol with ECU, injection and after-treatment changes for up to E85. Tata CPO Mohan Savarkar said Punch would be the first flex-fuel product, pending government higher-blend rules. MD Shailesh Chandra (FY2026 earnings, ) said Tata should be ready with 'at least one' flex-fuel passenger vehicle by end-2026 or early 2027 — he did not name Punch on that call. Treat as reported, not a dated launch.
