Facelift generation map

Tata's first crossover SUV and the volume sub-4-metre compact SUV since 21 September 2017, built on the revised X1 platform at Ranjangaon, Pune (FIAL); Sanand added from January 2024. One ICE generation with two mid-cycle updates: January 2020 facelift (Impact 2.0, BS6) and 14 September 2023 New Nexon. Tata's PR called the 2023 car 'new gen' / 'all-new'; Independent coverage treats it as a second facelift on the same X1, not a new generation (true gen 2 is reported for 2027 as project Garud). Petrol, diesel and (from Sep 2024) turbo iCNG; Dark / Kaziranga / Jet / Red Dark are special editions, not generations. Nexon.ev is a related battery-electric line, tracked separately. India's first Global NCAP 5-star car (Dec 2018 retest); ~800,000 Nexons by March 2025. India launch: 21 September 2017.

    Launch coverage and a February 2025 next-gen report call this a second facelift on the same X1 (true gen 2 expected 2027).

    Curvv-inspired nose with sequential LED DRLs, full-width LED tail bar, two-spoke wheel with illuminated Tata logo (India first).

    Cabin

    Cabin redesigned: 10.25-inch Harman, 10.25-inch digital cluster, iRA 2.0, 360° camera, ventilated seats, wireless charger, electronic shifter on automatics.

    6 airbags, ESC, 3-point belts for all, TPMS standard.

    Personas Smart / Pure / Creative / Fearless (S = sunroof, later PS panoramic).

    High7-speed DCT / DCA transmission error / limpMechanical / Occasional

    Ownership reports on 2023– New Nexon petrol DCA (Tata's 7-speed wet dual-clutch) describe sudden 'Transmission error / Contact service centre' messages, loss of drive, gear display 'F', or the box dropping to N/P while moving; some early batches had the whole DCT assembly (and occasionally ABS/ESP/TCU hardware) replaced under warranty. Tata has not published an India recall for the DCT. Not a SIAM campaign. Manual and AMT powertrains are a different gearbox.

Bharat NCAP (15 Oct 2024) separately scored the ICE Nexon 5/5: 29.41/32 adult, 43.83/49 child, applied to all petrol and diesel variants.

    As of this catalog pass (19 Aug 2026), SIAM voluntary-recall search for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd returned no Nexon ICE rows (Tata PV list was Jaguar XF only). Tata customer-care / cars.tatamotors.com pages did not turn up a published ICE Nexon defect/remedy campaign. A 2021 unofficial dealer-level anti-roll-bar-link replacement reported by was never a SIAM or Tata public recall and is not listed here as one.

Second-generation Nexon (project Garud)2027

(11 Feb 2025, from the February 2025 magazine) says Tata has begun work on a true next-gen Nexon, internally Garud, expected in showrooms in 2027 — which would give the 2017 car a 10-year run after two facelifts (2020, 2023). Heavily modified X1 / reported ATLAS architecture (as used by Curvv), new interior and exterior, likely carry-over petrol / iCNG with diesel in doubt for BS7 cost. Not a dated Tata launch; treat as reported.
