Nexa-channel sub-4m premium hatchback since 26 October 2015 (second Nexa model after S-Cross), India's first Maruti on Suzuki HEARTECT. Two generations in India; the first had one mid-cycle facelift (28 January 2019). The 23 February 2022 New Age Baleno is a new generation, not a facelift. Factory S-CNG (31 October 2022) is a powertrain, not a generation. Baleno RS (1.0 Boosterjet, March 2017 – January 2020) is a sporty variant, not a generation. Toyota Glanza is the rebadge; Fronx is the gen-2 coupe-crossover sibling. The 1999–2007 Baleno sedan/estate was a different car that only reused the name. India launch: 26 October 2015.

Defect
Possible defect in the airbag controller which, in a rare case, might result in non-deployment of the airbags and seat-belt pretensioners in a crash. Maruti advised owners of suspected vehicles not to drive until the part is replaced.

Clutch bite point is inconsistent, so owners stall or ride the clutch in traffic and wear it early. A new clutch was quoted around Rs 6,000. Not a factory recall.

Spies: new grille with a horizontal chrome bar, revised bumpers and alloys; cabin expected to gain a sunroof, ambient lighting and new upholstery. 1.2 Dualjet petrol (5MT/5AMT) and S-CNG expected to continue.
