LowGlobal NCAP 5-star adult / 4-star child (2020, 2-airbag test)Safety / Official test
21 January 2020 Global NCAP #SaferCarsForIndia test (similar to Latin NCAP 2013): 5 stars adult (16.42/17) and 4 stars child (37.44/49) — then the highest combined score for any Indian-made car. Tested as a heavier W8 with two frontal airbags, ABS and ISOFIX standard; structure and footwell rated stable, lowest intrusion and best side-impact crashworthiness in the programme to date (Global NCAP). Child score limited by poor ISOFIX markings and a three-point middle-rear belt only on W8(O). Optional side, curtain and knee airbags (up to seven) and ESC were not in the tested spec. Mahindra later sponsored a UN ESC and pedestrian test; Global NCAP Safer Choice Award 2020. from 2021 the middle-rear three-point belt was replaced by a 2-point lap belt across the range.
