Mahindra's original in-house ladder-frame SUV, Project Scorpio, launched in India on 20 June 2002 at Nashik (from about Rs 5.99 lakh, 2.6 turbo-diesel 109 hp or Renault 2.0 petrol 116 hp). ~Rs 600 crore programme with supplier-led engineering; Car of the Year 2003. One first-generation body-on-frame line with three major facelifts (All-New Scorpio, metros 17 March 2006; Mighty Muscular / mHawk, 6 March 2009; W105 'new generation' 25 September 2014) then a 19 August 2022 rebadge as Scorpio Classic (W110), which is still on sale: 2.2 Gen-2 mHawk 132 hp / 300 Nm + 6MT RWD only, S / S11, no automatic and no 4x4. Treated as 2006/2009/2014 as facelifts of the 2002 car, not new generations; the 14 November 2017 S11 / 140 hp refresh and April 2020 BS6 update were equipment/powertrain changes on W105, not styling generations. Scorpio-N (27 June 2022, Z101) is a related all-new SUV, not a Classic generation. Sales slug mahindra-mahindra-scorpio is the combined Scorpio nameplate (Classic + Scorpio-N); July 2026 combined 16,009 units. / Mahindra: Scorpio family crossed 10 lakh cumulative in 2024. Mahindra: contaminated fuel received at the Nashik factory on a particular date was filled in a select batch, with a risk of premature wear of engine and auxiliary parts. SIAM: premature wear of engine / exhaust after-treatment system parts. This is the passenger Scorpio (W105 BS6), not Bolero Pik-Up.
