Watch-outs
Owner-reported or cited issues for this generation, not official recalls.
MediumGlobal NCAP 3-star adult / 2-star child (2-airbag HTE, 2020)Safety / Official test
November 2020 Global NCAP #SaferCarsForIndia frontal-offset test of the Indian SP2i Seltos in base HTE spec (dual front airbags, pretensioners, ABS): 3 stars adult (8.03/17) and 2 stars child (15/49). Structure and footwell rated borderline unstable; airbags bottomed out (head only adequate); driver chest marginal. Child score hurt because Kia refused to nominate CRS (dynamics zeroed) and the tested spec lacked ISOFIX and three-point belts in all positions. Dual airbags were launch-standard; side thorax airbags later became standard (four airbags April 2022, six including curtains August 2022). Not the Korean/ANCAP 5-star SP2. No later Global NCAP retest of this body was published.
Ownership reports on the 140 PS 1.4 T-GDi + 7-speed dry dual-clutch (GT Line, to March 2023) describe low-speed judder, hesitation and clutch-pack wear in Indian stop-go traffic, with some warranty clutch replacements. Kia India did not publish a DCT recall. Manual, iMT, CVT and diesel torque-converter cars use different gearboxes. The 2023 facelift's 1.5 T-GDi kept a 7DCT.

Seltos hybrid (India)2027
Dec 2025, quoting Atul Sood / Kia has a 'clear direction' to put a hybrid in the India Seltos, timed after hybrid-component localisation (battery, motor, inverter), expected late 2026 or first half of 2027 — after another Kia hybrid (reported Sorento) may debut. Sources suggest a strong-hybrid take on the 1.5 NA petrol; Kia has not published India specs or a dated launch. Treat as reported, not a numbered generation. Not on sale as of 19 August 2026.
