Jeep's India compact SUV since 31 July 2017, assembled at Ranjangaon (FIAL) as the RHD mother plant. One MP/552 generation in India, two bodies on the map: the original 31 July 2017 look (1.4 MultiAir petrol 162 hp 6MT/7DCT and 2.0 Multijet diesel 173 hp 6MT; 9AT from the 25 June 2019 Trailhawk pack) and the 27 January 2021 facelift (slim LED lamps, bumper/grille, all-new cabin). Diesel-only 2.0 Multijet from May 2023 after the 1.4 petrol was dropped for BS6 Phase 2. Trail / Track / BlackShark / Night Eagle / Trailhawk are packs, not generations. Next-gen Compass for India was cancelled; Stellantis continues this facelift body. Two official India campaigns on the 2017 body (passenger-airbag fasteners, 23 November 2017; 2WD-diesel PCM emissions, 25 February 2019). No official SIAM campaign listed on the 2021 facelift body as of 19 August 2026. India launch: 31 July 2017.

Petrol (and Trailhawk) dropped by May 2023 when the 1.4 did not meet BS6 Phase 2 — current range is diesel-only 2.0 Multijet II ~170 hp / 350 Nm + 6MT or 9AT, 4x2 and Model S 4x4 AT.

Defect
FCA / loose fasteners may have entered a small number of passenger-airbag modules during supplier assembly and may pose a hazard if the front passenger airbag deploys. No injuries, accidents or complaints reported at announcement; owners advised not to use the front passenger seat until rectified.
What was changed
FCA India and authorised dealers to contact owners; free replacement of the passenger airbag.
FCA / production variations that may cause certain 2WD 2.0 diesel Compass units to exceed the regulatory threshold for particulate-matter emissions. Jeep: not a safety recall; petrol and 4WD diesels in the same period not affected.

Dealers contact owners; free PCM (Powertrain Control Module) software update of about 15 minutes.
