OEM FAQ · 29 Aug 2026 · Not a pay-per-km plan
Mahindra Electric now offers Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) across the full Electric Origin SUV line: BE 6 SPORTEQ, XEV 9S, and XEV 9e. Headline BaaS stickers:
- BE 6 SPORTEQ from ₹11.45 lakh
- XEV 9S from ₹12.65 lakh
- XEV 9e from ₹13.90 lakh
Battery financing is illustrated at ₹3.75/km, with a battery EMI starting at ₹6,975. That km figure is an affordability example, not a meter.
Run the numbers on the BaaS calculator. Primary source: Mahindra Electric BaaS FAQ.
Dual loan, not a battery rental
BaaS here is a dual-loan product from a participating financier. The car and the battery are financed separately. You still buy and own both. Mahindra is explicit: this is not a subscription, not a battery rental, and not a pay-per-use scheme. There is no per-kilometre battery charge.
Typical split (financier decides the actual offer):
- Vehicle loan: usually up to 5 years
- Battery loan: usually up to 8 years
Finance approval, rate, down payment, and tenure sit with the lender. Mahindra is not a party to that dispute.

Fine print on the sticker
BaaS prices exclude charger cost, road tax, insurance, TCS, and other statutory levies. They also exclude charging, maintenance, and repair. Personal use only.
The ₹3.75/km line assumes 60 km/day (about 1,860 km/month) and a specific down payment. Battery EMI changes with pack size, down payment, and tenure — not with how much you actually drive.
FAQ, in short
What is BaaS / Dual Loan?
Two loans instead of one: chassis and battery, often with different tenures. Lower upfront vehicle price. The battery EMI is stretched longer. Ownership of both still sits with the customer, subject to the financing agreement. The RC is hypothecated to the financier.
Is this a subscription or pay-per-km plan?
No. You purchase the vehicle and battery as a package and own both. No battery usage fee tied to kilometres.
Does EMI move if I drive more or less than 60 km/day?
No. Drive 100 km/month or 1,800 km/month — EMI stays the loan EMI. ₹3.75/km is only an illustration.
Who owns the battery?
The customer. Separate loans do not split ownership.
Separate payments?
Often yes: a vehicle EMI and a battery EMI. Together they are the monthly obligation. The financier sets the exact mechanism.
Minimum monthly running?
None. No usage floor. Assumed kilometres are for the marketing math only.
Interest rates and partners?
Set by the participating financier. Credit profile, tenure, and that lender's policy decide the rate. Ask a Mahindra dealer for the current partner list.
Can I pay the car cash and finance only the battery?
No under this product. The required loan is split across chassis and battery with different tenures.
After the loans are paid?
You keep using the car and battery as owner. Hypothecation comes off only after both loans are cleared. An NOC is blocked until then.
Warranty?
Same battery warranty as a non-BaaS buy. Financing choice does not change coverage.
Can I sell the car before both loans are done?
Not without the financier's NOC. Transfer follows the financing agreement.
Missed EMI, total loss?
Handled by the financier and insurer under their contracts. Call them, not Mahindra, for those cases.
What this means on Dreams
This is a price-access event, not a dispatch print. Watch BE 6, XEV 9e, and XEV 9S in later EV months to see whether the lower sticker moves volume.
The BaaS calculator still treats ₹/km as a billed rental. Mahindra's product is a fixed EMI. Use the calculator for Tata / MG-style rental plans; use this page for Origin SUV dual-loan stickers.
